WENAIJA Campaign 5.0: OWN YOUR CHOICE
Campaign Overview
The 2025 WeNaija Campaign spotlights Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) and the dangers of incomplete/abstinence-only sex education. We’re inviting young Nigerians to use their voices and their creativity to show how gaps in SRH education affect their lives (medically, psychologically, socially, and economically), and to champion safe, informed choices.
How to Join “Own Your Choice”
Register to be part of the WeNaija community (registration required to enter).
Create a 2–3 minute video explaining:
- What SRH means to you;
- How incomplete SRH education has impacted you/peers (health, mindset, opportunities, relationships);
- Youth-led ideas for delivering SRH education that actually work.
Upload your video on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok with #OwnYourChoice and tag @WeNaija_byNSSF on Instagram and TikTok and WeNaija Community on Facebook.
Accepted formats: Short documentary, artistic performance, spoken word, visual storytelling, animated explainer etc.
Key Areas to Note
- Content must not promote unsafe sexual behaviour or shame individuals; it should inform, support, and empower.
- Clearly identify an SRH gap (e.g., consent, contraception options, STI prevention, access to youth-friendly services).
- Connect the gap to real impacts on individuals and communities.
- Propose practical solutions (what should schools, clinics, families, media, and policymakers do differently?).
Judging Criteria
- Storytelling and Narrative Structure: How compelling and engaging the narrative is in addressing the theme of Sexual reproductive health, its impact, and solutions.
- Creativity and Originality: Originality in the approach, including innovative presentation and unique perspectives on the topic.
- Relevance to Theme: How well the video aligns with the contest’s theme of highlighting the impact of incomplete SRH education.
- Clarity of Message: The effectiveness of delivering a clear and concise message on SRH.
- Solution-Oriented: Presentation of practical and thoughtful solutions to the issues raised in the video
