NSSF Hosts Media Parley: Discloses Full Commitment To Transforming Health Outcomes In Nigeria

The importance of advocacy was highlighted to initiate interventions, drive conversations, and raise funds to ensure our children, families and vulnerable groups across Nigeria

Thursday, 25th August 2022 – Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund under the leadership of Dr. Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko hosted its maiden media parley to disclose its priority initiatives. The parley attended by journalists and news editors across Nigeria deepened the media’s understanding of the Fund’s strategic initiatives in view of the nation’s increased poverty rate and the need to strengthen the vision of a healthier Nigeria through multiple pathways across various sectors. 

Dr. Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko, General Manager during her presentation on “Transforming lives… Strengthening healthcare systems” noted that Nigeria needs a committed movement of citizens participating in development: youth, leaders, and influencers to tackle the rising rate of poverty. She further reiterated the need to engage the media regularly on the achievements, programs, and intervention areas of the Fund.  

News Correspondents, Editors and Producers from different media organizations including, CNBC Africa, Arise TV, NTA Lagos, Silverbird TV, BusinessDay, Daily Trust, News Agency of Nigeria, Plus TV, Punch, Guardian, TVC, Vanguard attended the event. 

The importance of advocacy was highlighted to initiate interventions, drive conversations, and raise funds to ensure our children, families and vulnerable groups across Nigeria recover from the devastating impact of the Covid-19 post pandemic and the continuous impact of depletion of human resources in vital sectors of the country. 

Furthermore, the media parley provided a great opportunity for the Fund to get feedback from the media, highlighting the need for active telling of community stories on the grassroot impact of the fund for the common good, and collaborate with the media as a centre of resource and thought leadership in areas health and societal issues. 

The parley provided a unique opportunity to deepen the partnership with the media, clarity on the planned initiatives and pave the way for more collaboration to showcase the Fund to key stakeholders.
