Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF), a private-sector led institution with a vision to transform Nigeria’s healthcare system to support our most vulnerable citizens, today announced winners of its 2022 NSSF Awards.
This is the first in a series of awards to recognize remarkable changemakers for their efforts in creating measurable impact across NSSF priority areas: to supplement efforts to mitigate the adverse economic efforts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Nigerians, strengthen the country’s healthcare system, and re-skill the Nigerian workforce for a post-pandemic world. The event also serves to accelerate progress in healthcare system strengthening by securing more freewill donations from Nigerians.
The inaugural NSSF Awards 2022 shines a light on various categories of sponsors, individual and corporate, who have shown exceptional support to NSSF’s vision by committing their time, finances, network, skills and other resources towards transforming health outcomes in Nigeria.
The awards are recognized across five categories: NSSF Sponsor Award, NSSF Corporate Sponsor, NSSF Female Sponsor Award, NSSF Ambassador Award and NSSF Corporate Partner Award. The awardees in this series include: Tengen Family Office, NSSF Corporate Sponsor Award; Mr. Tunde Folawiyo, NSSF Sponsor Award; Mr. Anthony Oputa, NSSF Ambassador Award; Olaniwun Ajayi LP, NSSF Corporate Partner Award and Dr. Ajoritsedere Awosika, NSSF Female Sponsor Award.
“Our target goal is to reach 500,000 citizens in Nigeria and diaspora”, noted the Chairman of NSSF, Mr. Tunde Folawiyo in his welcome address. He revealed that the health sector was most hit by the covid-19 pandemic therefore NSSF’s focus is to see the health sector fully recover. He emphasized the need to draw from global best practices with a focus on creating awareness and enhancing healthcare systems and infrastructure.
The recognition of the Tengen Family Office as the Corporate Sponsor award recipient is in appreciation of their leadership and contribution to ensure NSSF got the right footing and support to achieve its objectives and the successful execution of the One Million Vaccine Campaign. Tengen Family Office is sub-saharan Africa’s leading family office set up to institutionalize the management of the wealth of its founders, while adopting best-in class approach to create value, nurture successive generations and enable positive impact on societies.
The NSSF Sponsor award recipient and Chairman of NSSF, Mr Tunde Folawiyo, is the Chiarman/Chief Executive Officer of the Yinka Folawiyo Group, a conglomerate with interest in energy, agrictulture, shipping and real estate.businessman, philanthropist, and scholar. He is an advocate of Africa’s imminent growth, he has contributed immensely to philanthropic efforts across the continent. His recognition as NSSF Sponsor award recipient is in appreciation of his leadership and support on all NSSF projects including the COVID-19 post-pandemic efforts and the WeNaija photography campaign that empowered over 400 Nigerian youths.
All the awardees, at the ceremony, in their various acceptance speeches, reinstated their commitment to Nigeria’s healthcare advancement and willingness to continue in their efforts to collaborate with government and other private sector leaders in ensuring measurable actions are realised.
The General Manager of NSSF, Dr. Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko NSSF in her presentation on health sector gaps indicated that education, economic stability, access to quality healthcare and basic infrastructure continues to impede our right to health in Nigeria. With the staggering statistics, that lay the groundwork to improve health outcomes for Nigerians, we seek to address the healthcare system and the broader socio-economic challenges with a strategic focus in 2022 is to reduce maternal and child deaths through improving access to quality healthcare for vulnerable Nigeria
As NSSF continues to support urgent aspects of the healthcare system and provide humanitarian support to the people whose lives are disrupted by COVID-19, it will do so by working closely with public institutions and private sector actors.
